Whether it’s the audiovisual, packaging, restaurant or amusement park industries, all seem to be experiencing boon times with either their exhibit floors already sold out in advance of their upcoming shows or on tap to break all-time records. First-time events under t he UBM banner – Game Developers Conference and EcoBuild – were so successful they, and other events in the portfolio, helped boost UBM Q1 revenue 11 per cent to £264.2 million, compared with the same period last year. The event portfolio had particularly strong results, an increase of 46 percent to £123.1 million ($200 million) compared with the same period in 2011, while adjusted operating profit rose 53 percent to £42.4 million ($69 million). Tarsus Group made further inroads to achieve its goal of having 50 percent of its annual revenue derived from emerging markets by 2013 with the purchase of a 50-percent stake in the China International Automotive Aftermarket Industry and Tuning (Guangzhou) Trade Fair (“GZ Auto”) and other associated business assets. Nielsen Expositions’ Outdoor Retailer biannual markets have maxed out their home at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, and, as a result, a Web site has been launched to start a conversation about a possible new location for the show.   Outdoor Retailer, along with the Outdoor Industry Association, are “engaging the industry in a consultative and comprehensive approach to determine the best growth path and location for the future for the semi-annual outdoor trade shows,” according to OR show officials.   A formal discussion period will launch… more

After spending this year in Los Angeles, show organizers of the BlogWorld & New Media Expo have not only decided to move the show Jan. 6-8 next year back to Las Vegas, where it was previously held for four years, but also the show now is timed with the first day of International CES. With the opening of the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center just more than a year away (July 2013), the venue is keeping up the momentum by adding more members to its senior management team.  Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., the partner with Ohio’s Cuyahoga County on the $450 million project, named Jim Bennett as senior vice president and Brian Milner as Director of operations. The Asia Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition (AIMEX), organised by Reed Exhibitions Australia, announced a change in frequency of the show. AIMEX will be held every two years instead of four starting from 2013 in response to the support and feedback from the show’s exhibitors and visitors.   AIMEX was first launched in the 1970s, and is reportedly the largest mining trade show in the Asia-Pacific region.
