UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry’s 9th Global Barometer Survey that was conducted in June indicates, while the global economy still seems to be struggling, the trade show industry has remained on a stable path through the recession.
In the past three years, on average, six out of 10 companies that were surveyed indicated they had increase in their turnover.
Depending on the region, almost 40 percent of surveyed companies registered an increase in annual profits of more than 10 percent, which has been a relatively stable growth for the past three years.

UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, recently released the 8th edition of its “The Trade Fair Industry in Asia Report” that indicated the major markets in the region, such as China, Hong Kong and India, have finally started to slow in growth, while Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore and Malaysia, saw huge gains.
The report, which consists of more than 120 pages of data and analysis, was compiled by Hong Kong-based Business Strategies Group and is available for download HERE.

Already a mainstay in Beijing, Messe Frankfurt’s ISH Shanghai & CIHE – Shanghai International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioningis gaining support in the Shanghai region in advance of its September show.
The event will run Sept. 26-28 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and is co-organized organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and Beijing B&D Tiger Exhibition Co Ltd.
The show will cover an area of 11,500 square meters and is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors from around the world.

More than 530 exhibitors from 20-plus countries and regions, a new exhibitor record, will take part in the 23rd edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair July 18-24 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The annual fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will present about 350 cultural events under the theme “Reading the World, We Read therefore We Know.”

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau and the Seoul Tourism Organization announced a plan to expand their MICE cooperation framework to encompass the educational arena.
The two universities of Seoul - Kyung Hee University and Hallym University of Graduate Studies - signed a MoU with TCEB and Seoul Tourism Organization to establish a bilateral ‘Academic Exchange Programme’.
The purpose is to establish an inclusive foundation in Thailand and Seoul for creating future MICE leaders in Asia.

Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East Holdings has announced interim results for the six months ended 30th April 2012. The company’s turnover was US$233 million, an increase of 30 percednt, compared with the same period in 2011. Profit attributable to owners of the company in the period was US$12 million, a growth of 13 percdent year-on-year. Dilute earnings per share in the six-month period were HK$0.0765.

UBM live, a subsidiary of UBM plc., reported a record attendance of 14,473 attendees at its Japanese Pharma Portfolio of events this year – an increase of 17 percent, compared with 2010. The collection of events were held at the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center March 21-23 and included CPhI Japan, ICSE Japan, P-MEC Japan and the new Pharmatec Japan.

Exhibition organiser Tarsus Group will launch a new show, Label Summit Indonesia 2013, under its Labelexpo Global Series brand. The event will serve the growing print and packaging industry in Indonesia and South East Asia, focusing on label and packaging printing converters/printers, brand owners and designers.
Label Summit Indonesia will be held May 29-30 at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua in Bali. The annual event will alternate each year between Bali and Jakarta and is supported by the Indonesian Packaging Federation and other regional trade bodies.
