Reed Exhibitions recently named JB Son Country as general manager of its South Korea operations. Son is based in the Reed Seoul office and reports to the president of Reed Exhibitions Greater China. Hannover Fairs (Canada) Inc., the subsidiary to Germany-based Deutsche Messe, has acquired a 50-percent stake in Truck World, the largest commercial vehicle trade show in Canada, from the event’s owner - Newcom Business Media. Truck World will be organized and managed jointly by Hannover Fairs and Newcom in the even years through the Truck World Show Partnership. Industrial Automation Shenzhen 2016 (IA Shenzhen) recently ran June 29-July 1 and held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Centre (SZCEC). The three-day show attracted nearly 450 industrial automation enterprises from 13 countries and regions, approximately 30 robot brands showcased products covering some 30,000 square meters. The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) have entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) that will drive tourism traffic and exchanges between the two popular destinations. Las Vegas has a streak of good news with shows held in the first half of 2016 seeing major upticks in their numbers, with several reporting record growth. Through May 2016, more than three million visitors traveled to Las Vegas to attend a meeting or convention. The United Fresh Produce Association had a busy time during its show, United Fresh 2016, which was held June 20-22 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. First, the association made another substantial donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and second, it launched the Global Cold Chain Expo in partnership with the Global Cold Chain Alliance. Besides the launch event, United Fresh is collocated with several other shows, including the International Floriculture Expo and FMI Connect. The 2016 Summer Fancy Food Show was the largest in exhibit space since it was established in 1954. More than 2,670 exhibitors filled the halls of Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, with the latest in specialty food and beverages from across the U.S. and 55 countries. Owned and produced by the Specialty Food Association, the show ran June 26-28. The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) has selected Brad Mayne as its new president and CEO, effective July 19.
