The 31st edition of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, organised by UBM Asia, concluded this year as another record-breaking show, with attendance from 3,633 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions. UBM hosted the seven-day show across two venues in Hong Kong, namely the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) Sept. 11-15, and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) Sept. 13-17. After feedback from key industry players and the Thai Beer Industry Guild, the dates for the launch of Bevtec Asia have been changed from early 2014 to May 6–8, 2015.  The Bevtec Asia committee decided not to hold the exhibition in 2014 when two ASEAN industry conferences in the same three months period are already scheduled, also with so many buyers focused on the AEC 2015 free-trade market changes and its opportunities. Through an intensive marketing campaign, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has secured several high-profile North American events that will bring in more 12,500 attendees and RM186 million (US 58 million) of economic impact. The 7th edition of Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology broke records this year, with a huge 62 percent visitor increase. The three-day event welcomed 12,762 professional visitors from 50 countries and region Sept. 25-27 at its new venue, Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The fair presented the latest technologies and solutions in intelligent building development from around the world. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau introduced a new global marketing campaign “Thailand Connect”, which aims to expand the country’s MICE industry. The bureau hopes the industry will generate revenues of approximately US$3.2 billion and attract 987,000 overseas MICE travellers in 2014. Messe Duesseldorf Asia’s wire Southeast ASIA 2013, 10th International Wire & Cable Trade Fair for Southeast Asia and Tube Southeast ASIA 2013, 9th International Tube & Pipe Trade Fair for Southeast Asia saw a big attendance jump – 28 percent – at its recent show, compared with the 2011 staging. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre continues to dominate in the Asia/Pacific region, with a total of 1,180 events, including115 exhibitions and 30 conferences held there in FY 2012/2013.
