This year’s International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ Expo! Expo! drew more than an estimated 2,000 attendees Dec. 4-6 to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, where they had the opportunity to not only go to 80 educational sessions, but also network with colleagues at events such as the opening party at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and check out products and services on a busy showfloor. The Consumer Electronics Association has launched a new program with the Startup America Partnership, a national network of communities dedicated to advancing the success of American start-ups, for the 2013 International CES, on tap Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas. From barbecue grills to solar filtration pumps and holiday decor, the newest products in outdoor living stole the spotlight at the Int’l Pool | Spa | Patio Expo that took place Nov. 6-8  at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. For the ninth quarter in a row, the trade show industry still is growing, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s latest CEIR Index, albeit at a slower rate in the third quarter of this year, with concerns over not only the looming fiscal cliff, but also the global economy. The first show in the United States to combine traditional and renewable energy sectors – VP International’s Total Energy USA – debuted Nov. 27-29 at the George R. The international organic sector met for the 12th year in a row for BioFach Japan 2012 Nov. 21-23 in the Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Centre. This year was notable for the large international share of exhibitors. More than 210 companies from 14 nations, compared with 10 nations in 2011 presented their organic products. Italy, particularly the region of Sicily, and Argentina were at BioFach Japan for the first time. Calls from within the Taiwanese jewellery industry to hold an international, professional jewellery exhibition in Taiwan have been answered, with UBM Asia and the Taiwan Jewelry Industry Association joining forces, supported by the Taipei Jewelers’ Association, to launch the first Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair.
