GL Events Forms JV to Build Convention Centre in Guangzhou

GL Events signed a joint venture agreement with the Yuexiu Group to build a new convention centre in Guangzhou. GL Events was represented by Mr. Olivier Ginon and the Yuexiu Group was represented by Mr. Zhang Zhaoxing.

The opening of the first phase is planned to be completed in 2019 and will feature a 50,000 m2 convention centre in centre of Guangzhou. The Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Centre will be located in the historic Yuexiu district of Guangzhou. GL Events aims to develop the venue into a major facility for large conferences and international corporate events.

The two companies also agreed to develop a series of jointly owned event properties in China. The signed ceremony also featured the Executive Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Ouyang Weimin, Vice Mayor Mr. Cai Chaolin and the Consul General of France in Guangzhou Mr. Bertrand Furno.

GL Events aims to use this partnership to provide a foundation for developing other projects in Guangdong province and possibly in other markets in Mainland China. GL Events has maintained operations in Greater China for more than 20 years with operations in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
