Arnold, Md.-based mobile app provider Core-apps has decided to expand by acquiring Las Vegas-based event software management company GoExpo.
“Core-apps is excited to offer the GoExpo software as our own. Our customers kept asking us to develop this type of offering so they would not have to manage multiple vendors to get their event done,” said Jay Tokosch, Core-apps CEO and co-founder.

The biannual MAGIC Market Week rolled out the white carpet Aug. 18-21 across the Las Vegas Convention Center and Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino for the fashion event that just keeps on growing.
Owned by Advanstar Global, it is now comprised of 10 trade shows that focus on men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, swimwear, footwear, accessories and sourcing. Mirroring the continued growth in the overall trade show industry, several recent shows saw positive showfloor size, exhibitor and attendee numbers.
Messe Frankfurt’s Texworld USA, for example, saw tremendous growth, with 438 exhibitors from 15 countries, a 33.5 percent increase from the July 2012 show.
For the fourth time, Texworld was collocated the International Apparel Sourcing Show and the Home Textiles Sourcing Expo, which drew in a total of 731 exhibitors and 5,292 attendees.

Expanding their reach even more, Global Sources is adding another sourcing fair to their portfolio: China Sourcing Fair: Mobile & Wireless, which will be held in April 2014 at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo.
The new show is scheduled to be held each April and October and will showcase more than 800 booths at launch.
The event will be collocated with the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components and the China Sourcing Fair: Security Products and its pavilions will include smartphones and tablets, accessories, mobile apps and applications and wireless devices.

Savings await buyers planning to visit the upcoming 52nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF52) after the Thai government last month announced the lifting of the 20 percent tax on imported gems and jewelry products to be sold at the exhibition.
Foreign exhibitors are now allowed to bring in and sell gems and jewelry from their countries duty-free, while local exhibitors can reduce selling prices as they cut down on imported parts and products’ costs.
Both local and foreign buyers can thus take advantage of the 20 percent savings.

More than 5,000 insurance professionals were celebrated Aug 15-18 at the International Dragon Award (IDA) 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.
The ceremony and annual meeting was organized by IMM International and supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

U.K.-based Tarsus Group, along with Indonesia-based exhibition organizer Dyandra Promosindo, is set to debut Zuchex Indonesia 2014, a housewares and gift show that will be held in Jakarta.
The show will be jointly organized by Life Media, part of Tarsus, who are the organisers of Istanbul-based housewares and gift shows Zuchex and Ideal Homex.

NASDAQ-listed Global Sources recently released its financial results for the quarter ended June 30. Revenues in the quarter were US$61 million, a year-on-year decrease of 8.0 percent. Net profit attributable to shareholders was US$17 million in the period, a jump of 73 percent from 2012.
Global Sources’ exhibitions business expanded to become its largest business segment during the quarter. Revenues were up 9.1 percent to US$33 million, or 54 percent of total revenues. The Shenzhen International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessoriesconcluded this year with an exhibitor increase of 26 percent from the previous edition in 2012.
