Bangkok, 8th September: Also this month, the third edition of Pack Print International received a record 200 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions. The four-day trade show, jointly organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, The Thai Packaging Association and The Thai Printing Association, attracted an estimated 17,000 visitors from over 50 countries and regions – a jump of 40% versus the previous edition in 2009.

U.K.-based trade show organiser, Fresh RM, and Australia’s Single Market Events will jointly organise the Speciality & Fine Food Fair Aug. 27-28, 2012, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Sri Lanka Expo 2012, organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), is being revived after a 15 year hiatus. Scheduled to run from March 28-30 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, the three-day trade show will feature a range of “traditional and non-traditional products” under three categories of Agriculture, Fisheries and Industrial Products and Services. The expo will reportedly feature over 300 booths and is expected to attract over 1,000 visitors from overseas.

According to various media reports, the Wuhan International Expo Center is set to open its doors on Oct. 15 in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province, China. The new venue will feature 190,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space. The reported size will rank the Wuhan International Expo Center third largest in China, behind the Pazhou Complex of the Chinese Export & Import Commodities Fair Ground in Guangzhou and the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Reed Elsevier recently reported its interim results for the six months ended June 30. The group’s exhibitions organising arm, Reed Exhibitions, reported revenues down 4 percent year-on-year at £368 million. Adjusted operating profits were £113 million, down 8 percent, compared with last year. Reed Business Information’s (RBI) revenues dropped 8 percent to £344 million, while RBI’s adjusted operating profits were up 33 percent to £53 million.

The triennial Foodpro 2011, which ran July 10-13 in Sydney, has recorded its largest ever numbers in terms of exhibitors, visitors and space utilized. Reportedly the largest trade show for the food and beverage processing and manufacturing industries in the Asia-Pacific region, the show featured 328 exhibitors – an 18-percent increase from the previous edition in 2008. Foodpro is managed by Diversified Exhibitions Australia and was collocated with the 44th annual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) Conference for the first time this year.

Mack Brooks Exhibitions has announced plans to launch a new Thailand edition of its Fastener Fair at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) Sept. 6-8, 2012. This latest addition follows the launch of Fastener Fair Mumbai and Fastener Fair São Paolo earlier in the year as part of Mack Brooks’ expansion into growth markets in Asia and South America. Singapore trade shows BroadcastAsia and CommunicAsia are set to expand beyond its previous edition in 2010 as organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), expects more than 2,000 exhibitors to attend the shows. This year’s edition of CommunicAsia will be relocated to the Marina Bay Sands, while BroadcastAsia remains at Suntec Singapore in a split venue format.

Computex Taipei, Asia’s largest and the world’s second largest ICT show, was held May 31-June 4 at the Taipei World Trade Center, Nangang Exhibition Hall and the Taipei International Convention Center. Organised by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the event reported a total of 120,000 visitors.
