Hainan's largest exhibition venue, the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center (HICEC) will be completed June 28 after a 17-month construction period. HICEC is made up of a 77,000 square meter exhibition centre, as well as a 42,000 sq. m. convention centre. The venue will reportedly host nine exhibitions and four conferences within this year and will host the Pan-PRD Regional Cooperation and Development Forum in 2012. More than 100,000 art and antique lovers, collectors and professionals from across Asia, Europe and the United States congregated at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) for two events - ART HK – Hong Kong International Art Fair and Christie’s Hong Kong Spring Auctions. The inaugural Industrial Sourcing and subcontracting Expo (INDUSS) will debut at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) Nov. 23-26. Organised by the Bangalore International Exhibition Services, the four-day trade show will feature elements from sourcing solutions to various industries ranging from the automotive and rail industries to mechanical engineering to telecommunications. Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DESC) has released its statistics on the MICE industry for the first quarter of 2011. The number of MICE participants in the quarter increased an impressive 42 percent, rising from 89,000 in the first quarter of 2010 to 127,000 in the first quarter of this year. The number of events, however, dropped from 331 in the first quarter of last year to 267 this year – a 19-percent decrease. Thailand is directly targeting the luxury MICE market with a new initiative that’s part of the Thailand Convention & Visitors Bureau’s “Believe in Thailand” campaign. The initiative is designed both to extend market penetration in the existing luxury MICE market and also to increase the size of this niche market. Bangkok Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (BITEC) announced the signing of a multi-year contract with exhibition organiser Reed Tradex. The deal will anchor Reed’s flagship Asian event Manufacturing Expo to the venue for three years until 2013. Manufacturing Expo is an umbrella show consisting of InterPlas Thailand, InterMold Thailand, Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly Technology. Messe München International has announced a strategic partnership agreement with Bangkok’s IMPACT Exhibition Management Company. IMPACT is the organiser of Thai construction machinery trade fair CONSTECH. Messe München will partner with IMPACT, as it looks to further expand its portfolio outside of Germany. CONSTECH is held each year at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok. UBM China, a subsidiary of U.K-based UBM plc, has announced a strategic agreement to cooperate with eZEN. The two organisations will jointly organise the eCommerce Expo Sept. 26-27 in Shanghai. Andhra Pradesh has become the first state in India to establish a convention and visitors bureau – the Hyderabad Convention Visitors Bureau (HCVB). HCVB is an initiative of the Andhra Pradesh state government, with funding from both the state and private sectors. A non-profit association, HCVB has been registered under India’s society’s act with an elected executive board of governors.
