Music China, Asia’s prominent music trade event, is set to take place Oct. 11-14 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Last week, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released its MICE statistics for the first quarter of 2017, indicating that a total of 366 MICE events were held in the city – that represents an increase of 18% year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees also increased – rising 62%, reaching over 222,000 in the quarter. SMG, known for its management of convention centers and venues, has scored a management contract for a whopping 4.3 million square foot convention center in Shenzhen, China. The Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center is set to become one of the largest convention centers in the world. The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) embraced the Ramadan spirit of sadaqah (giving) at its 10th annual buka puasa gathering recently. UBM SES, formerly Allworld Exhibitions’ Singapore Exhibition Services, announced its Chairman, Stephen Tan, will retire with effect from 30th June. Tan join the company in 1984 and became Chairman in January 2015. The trade show industry was back on the positive side after slipping in the final quarter of 2016, with a year-over-year 1.6-percent uptick in growth to kick off the first quarter of this year, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Index Report.
