International exhibition organiser, Messe Düsseldorf, announced plans to cooperate with FOODEX’s organiser, Japan Management Association, to introduce the ProWein & Champagne Lounge at the upcoming edition of FOODEX.
Running from 6th to 9th March 2018, at Makuhari Messe, ProWein & Champagne Lounge at FOODEX will feature a VIP hospitality section and the Champagne Lounge. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) concluded its first events of the year last week, attracting some 126,000 buyers to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), a figure which represents a growth of 6% over last year.
Running from 8th to 11th January, the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair welcomed more than 49,000 buyers, the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair attracted close to 33,000 buyers, and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair featured about 21,000 buyers. Positioned as Asia’s largest trade fair serving the automotive parts, accessories and service industries, Automechanika Shanghai 2017, received a record number of visitors. The exhibition attracted nearly 131,000 professional buyers from 142 countries and regions, a 9% increase over the previous edition.

The Event Tech Tribe has once again expanded its event industry offerings, this time with venue booking software Meetingselect. This is the seventh tech supplier to join the collaborative ecosystem The Tribe comprises.
Established in 2007, Meetingselect is the world's largest independent meetings distribution system and online venue booking tool. The company’s software will integrate with all existing Tribe products.

MGM Resorts International launched a new standardized program for the safe collection, preservation and service of surplus banquet food in a long-standing effort to reduce food waste and fight hunger in Southern Nevada.
Created in partnership with Three Square Food Bank, the new program will enable MGM Resorts to donate prepared but unserved hot banquet food to Three Square, which will then repurpose the food into wholesome meals. The program is expected to provide 800,000 nutritious meals by 2020 to people combatting hunger.

Two of the largest global trade show organizers – Informa and UBM – unveiled last week they were in talks to possibly merge in a deal valued at $5.3 billion.
The merger would create a trade show juggernaut, easily taking the No. 1 spot as the largest global organizer worldwide.
A decade after a proposed deal in which UBM attempted to buy Informa fell apart, the combined companies would give Informa scale and specialization in events.

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association decided to scrap its 55-year old massive National RV Show, which it has held every November at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.
Instead, association officials said they wanted to reinvent the annual event away from being a traditional trade show.
