RV Trade Show Has Successful Debut in China

The ATC Show 2012, made up of All in CARAVANING 2012 and All in TUNING 2012 in Beijing, had an impressive debut for the growing RVand camping industry in China.

Jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co. Ltd. and YASN International Exhibition Co. Ltd, the exhibition attracted 242 Chinese andinternational exhibitors displaying tuning cars, motor homes and RVs and RVaccessories, as well campsite management and development companies on 215,200 square feetof exhibit space.

More than 10,000 visitors attended the ATC Show 2012. A wide range of ancillaryevents, such as forums, conferences and games complemented the exhibits. 

“With the first ‘All in Caravaning Annual Conferenc’” and the first All in CARAVANING show, Messe Düsseldorf has expanded its activities in the Chinese market,” said  Hans Werner Reinhard, Deputy Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH and Chairman of Messe Düsseldorf China Ltd.

CARAVANING 2012, the first RV industry show in China, was well-received by theexhibitors.

The target group of RV customers has increased from afew ‘RV enthusiast’ to the general public. The industry also witnessed considerable developments in infrastructure and the overall quality of industry employees. 

  

“HYMER always attaches importance to international business. China is definitely a key market for us,” said Hermann Pfaff, Member of the Board of HYMER AG, the largest RV manufacturer in Europe.

He added, “We are looking for partners here and also exploring a suitable cooperation model in the local markets.”

Kazuhiro Akase, Secretary General of FICC Asia-Pacific Commission, praised the RV market potential in China.

“China’s RV and campsite industry began withan ideal infrastructure: vast land area, huge population and stable economic growth in China; the development rate in China will double that of Japan,” Akase said.

According to Song Yu, deputy executive director of the Beijing Municipal Tourism Committee, in the next Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) it has been identified that RVand campsite development will be two of the segments generating significant stimulus for the tourism industry.

It is estimated that by 2015, the tourism industry will experience substantial growth, with an overall 3.3 billion tourists and a 10 percent annual growth rate. A total of 50 to 60 million private cars will be used for vacationand tourism, creating huge opportunities for the development of motels, campsites, RVs and infrastructure.

At the concurrent All in CARAVANING Annual Conference 2012, over 20 international RV and camping industry expertsshared their experiences and insights.

Joe Laing, Deputy Secretary General of the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, Robert Mackinnon, former Chairman of the National School of RV Parks and Campground Management (U.S.), Ilya Kuntsevich, Executive Director of RCV America and Chang Kyung-woo, Chairman of the Korean Camping & Caravaning Federation, were among the speakers sharing information about the industryin their own countries.

The next ATC Show will be held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing June 15 -17.
