Not only did the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently launch the first phase of its Web site and a new QR Code at IMEX America, but also it scored record numbers at the Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference 2011 in July in Kuala Lumpur. Germany-based trade fair organiser, Koelnmesse, will advise Beijing Huahong Jiye Investment on the construction of a new exhibition venue in China’s north-eastern city of Harbin. An agreement was signed by both parties Oct. 7 The venue is set to consist of a 100,000 square meters complex, where Beijing Huahong Jiye Investment is looking to utilise the venue planning experience of Koelnmesse. B2B media company UBM, released its interim results for the nine months ended Sept. 30. The company posted revenues of £706 million in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent. Revenues from events during the period were £279 million, up 26.6 percent from 2010. Adjusted operating profits of events were £86 million this year compared with £60 million in the first nine months of 2010. The 37th edition of the Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) recently concluded at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) forecasting US$300 million worth of business orders fulfilled at the four-day trade show held Oct. 10-13. The Greater Philadelphia Life Sciences Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, launched a new video for industry planners and influencers – people who help bring meetings and conventions to Philadelphia. The Pharmaceutical Pavilion, which debuted at the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s Pack Expo Las Vegas Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, was given high marks all the way around. UBM Live’s annual CPhI Worldwide event for pharmaceutical ingredients is expected to break attendance records with more than 29,000 attendees, as well as a 13-percent increase in exhibitors onsite. Global Experience Specialist’s parent company, Viad, recently released its third-quarter earnings, and while numbers for the Marketing & Events Group, of which GES is a part of, were down because of negative show rotation, base same-show numbers scored a nearly 11-percent increase, compared with last year’s Q3 numbers.  Viad’s overall revenues saw a 1-percent increase in the third quarter to $216.2 million, compared with the same period last year, as well as $1.2 million in net income. The latest edition of Reed Exhibitions’ NEPCON China, a show for the electronics manufacturing trade, drew 26,374 attendees during the three-day event held recently at the Shanghai World Expo Convention & Exhibition Center. Of those visitors, 4,824 were VIPs (17 percent more than in 2010) and 576 were Diamond Club members (a 35-percent jump from the same period).
