Hanley Wood Exhibitions’ World of Concrete just wrapped up in Las Vegas and not only did the show fare well, but also the mobile game app made specifically for it – Rig Racin’ – scored a whopping 100,000-plus downloads. Game players had the opportunity to steer mixer trucks through three action-packed, challenging game-play environments. For two weeks every December, more than 175,000 attendees flock to Las Vegas to take part in the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and not that event has signed on to stay in the city through 2024. The 37th SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor, Trade) Show, owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, saw a 6-percent jump in attendance this year, coming in at 67,000 attendees. From wearables to robots to driverless cars, the Consumer Electronic Association's 2014 International CES, the world's largest tech event, delivered impressive amount of innovation Jan. 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and other venues around the city. In more end-of-the-year mergers and acquisitions news, the National Association of Broadcasters bought two shows - Content and Communications World (CCW) and Satellite Communications Conference and Expo (SATCON) – from JD Events. The shows are collocated and held annually in November at the Jacob K. Advanstar Communications’ Licensing Expo has made a lot moves to evolve the show, with the most recent being the decision to expand its showfloor at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas to include a Motorsports segment. The new area will be 5,000 square feet and in addition to changes made at the show this year that saw the exhibit floor reconfigured into four new areas: Art and Design, Characters and Entertainment, Agents and Brands and Fashion.
