EXPO PACK México 2014, recently held June 17-20 in Mexico City at Centro Banamex, closed with the show’s second consecutive sold-out event, according to show owner and organizer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. Earlier this week, it was announced that PMMI Director of Expositions A.J. Janosko, who was 45, passed away suddenly as the result of an accident over the weekend, and now the A.J. Janosko Education Trust has been established for his two sons. HITEC 2014, a hospitality technology show, officially has kicked off, running June 23–26 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the show already is off to a great start. “We have grown again from last year, both in number of exhibitors and show square footage, at nearly a 12 percent increase from 2013,” said Steven Stout, CAE, director of Meetings and Special Events, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, which runs the show. Earlier this week, more than 100 trade show professionals, including suppliers, organizers and associations representing the industry, went to Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress for the inaugural “Exhibitions Day”. Topics at hand during the 100-plus meetings were the value of the overall trade show industry, as well as asking for support of the JOLT Act - Jobs Originated through Travel Act; allowing government employees to attend events; the impact of the Visa Waiver Program; the importance of the International Buyers Program; and support of the Travel Promotion Act.… more
NSSF, Sands Expo Extend SHOT Show Agreement to 2020 alt

The National Shooting Sports Foundation and Sands Expo and Convention Center have followed up the 2014 record-setting Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) by adding another two years to their agreement. Under the new terms, the SHOT Show will be presented at the Sands Expo through 2020. The 2014 SHOT Show, which ran Jan. 14-17, attracted more than 67,000 in total attendance, an all-time high, and was the fifth consecutive SHOT Show held at Sands Expo.
