On the heels of buying U.S.-based fashion trade show portfolio, Business Journals Inc. last week, U.K.-based UBM now will launch IFF MAGIC Japan, a new joint venture between MAGIC and JFW-International Fashion Fair, Japan’s longest running, bi-annual fashion business tradeshow organized by publisher Senken Shimbun.

Mobile Electronics, second phase of Global Sources Electronics, was held April 18-21 at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), with a strong focus on smartphone, tablets, wearable devices and mobile accessories.

Preparation for Messe Frankfurt’s Music China 2016 is in full swing, with 90 percent of the exhibition area reserved. The 2016 edition will be expanded to 10 halls, occupying 113,000 square meters of the exhibition area Oct. 26-29 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China.

Global Sources released its financial results for the year ended Dec. 31, 2015. Revenues from continuing operations in 2015 were US$171.0 million, down 4.6 percent, compared with the US$179.3 million recorded in 2014.
Adjusted EBITDA fell to US$30.5 million from US$37.3 million in 2014. Net profits slipped to US$18.8 million in 2015 – down from US$22.5 million in the previous year. IFRS net profit, however, jumped 63 percent year-on-year to US$29.9 million from US$18.3 million in 2014.

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) recently became the first facility in Malaysia to install the 6500 ANSI Lumens laser technology projector as part of her RM3.1 million investment to upgrade the audio-visual (AV) capabilities in the venue’s 21 meeting rooms.

The 3rd Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), was held March 1-5 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE).
The 33rd Hong Kong International Jewellery Show also was held March 3-7 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
