Food Services of America and the Oregon Convention Center reached a new high mark in their efforts to recycle, reuse or donate. FSA's Trends Show that took place Oct. 22 at the OCC achieved an 86-percent diversion rate, which included 2,080 pounds of pre-consumer food donated to the Oregon Food Bank, enough to provide 1,600 meals to the needy.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers, which runs AG CONNECT Expo & Summit, and the National Corn Growers’ and American Soybean Associations, which jointly run Commodity Classic, will combine their agriculture shows March 2016 in New Orleans.
Commodity Classic is a joint venture owned by the National Corn Growers Association and the American Soybean Association, with National Association of Wheat Growers and National Sorghum Producers participating as affiliates.

The overall fastest-growing show in net square footage was awarded to Hart Energy’s DUG Eagle Ford, and the overall fastest-growing show in attendance was awarded to George Little Management’s Surf Expo at the 4th Annual TSNN Awards, held Nov. 1-3 in Reno, Nev.
Barry Haest, vice president of events for Hart Energy, took the stage in front of a room filled with show organizers, their guests, sponsors and VIPS at the Peppermill Reno to accept the award.

The theme of knowledge sharing and networking around the discipline of rheumatology at this year’s ACR/ARHP meeting was evident, both on and off the showfloor.

National Association of Convenience Stores Association’s 2013 NACS Show set a new record with 396,000 net square feet, up 4 percent compared with 2012.
The annual event took place Oct. 12-15 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta and attracted 1,160 exhibitors, including 195 first-timers, and about 22,000 attendees from 65 countries.

A few months shy of the two-year anniversary of John Gallagher stepping into the dual roles of president and CEO for Germany-based Messe Frankfurt's Atlanta-based U.S. subsidiary, he is leaving and will be replaced by Kathryn Fitts and Dennis Smith.
Fitts has been serving as vice president of finance and administration, and Smith has been serving as vice president of sales in the Atlanta office.
The changes will be made effective immediately, though their new titles have not been revealed yet.
