At the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Predict Conference, more than 130 C-level trade show industry leaders, M&A representatives, financiers, economists and sponsor suppliers gathered Sept. 13 in New York City and looked into a crystal ball to try and determine the future of the industry.  What they discovered was the overall sentiment in the room was one of cautious optimism. On the first day of U.K.-based Tarsus Group’s biennial Labelexpo Americas, the aisles were not only packed with more attendees than the 2010 show, but also the showfloor itself was bigger than two years earlier.   Pre-registration was up 7 percent, compared with the 2010 show, according to Labelexpo Americas Event Manager Tasha Ventimiglia.   The 2010 show came in at just more than 12,500 attendees, but this year's ended up drawing 14,355 attendees.   In addition, the showfloor grew from 170,000 net square feet in 2010 at the Donald E. Hong Kong-based AsiaWorld-Expo recently played host to Messe Berlin’s ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA, Asiafruit Congress and Informa Exhibitions’ Vitafoods Asia.   The two international exhibitions, which ran Sept. 5-7, featured the newest worldwide freshfruit and vegetables produces and nutritional products.   ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICAisthe only annual international trade exhibition for fresh fruit and vegetable marketing in Asia that focuses exclusively on the fresh produce sector and related value chain for the whole Asian region, according to show orgzanzers.   The event… more

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre continues to be one of the busiest venues in the region, hosting 1,224 events, 116 of which were exhibitions held by 52 organizers in FY 2011/12.   Of these organizers, 28 were from outside Hong Kong: 17 were international companies with local representative offices, 10 were overseas organizers and one was from Mainland China.     Nearly all of the exhibitions held in the FY2011/12 were recurrent events.   Nine of the year’s 116 exhibitions werefirst-time events at the HKCEC, all new ventures by different organizers… more

Updated Sept. 16, 2012 - According to IMTS officials, the show, which ran Sept. 10-15 at Chicago's McCormick Place was the most successful show in a decade with 100,200 attendees. Global Sources recently reported its financial results for the quarter ending June 30. Revenues in the second quarter were US$66.8 million, mostly flat, compared with last year’s US$66.5 million.   Net profit attributable to shareholders was US$9.7 million, a drop of 3.6 percent from 2011’s US$10.1 million.   Global Sources’ exhibitions business expanded with revenues of US$30.5 million, up 4.8 percent from the US$29.1 million recorded in Q2 of 2011.   Online services generated US$30.0 million in the quarter, compared with US$29.9 million in 2011. Earlier this month, the inaugural Australian edition of food and beverage trade show, lunch!, attracted the attendance of around 120 exhibitors and 3,674 trade buyers to the Royal Hall of Industries in Sydney. The 106th edition of the China Daily Use Articles Trade Fair (CDATF) concluded with 3,800 booths covering an exhibition area of 90,000 square meters at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) this year – a new show record with growth of 30 percent over the 2011 edition. Exhibition organisers UBM Live and UBM Asia have jointly announced the launch of industrial security, fire and safety exhibition –IFSEC Southeast Asia. The show will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) Sept. 11-13, 2013. IFSEC Southeast Asia is the latest addition to the IFSEC brand of shows which also includes geo clones in the U.K., India and Africa.
