At the International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ Expo! Expo! 2012 there was a 10’ x 10’ booth in the back of the hall that was generating a lot of excitement amongst attendees.

U.K.-based Tarsus Group’s strategy of deriving 50 percent of its revenues from emerging markets by 2013 – Project 50/13 – has been completed a year ahead of time, and now the company is embarking on its next strategy they are calling “Quickening the Pace.”

The Boston-based Great American Bargain Book Show (GABBS) was bought by Framingham, Mass.-based Advisor Communications and will be renamed the Boston Remainder & Overstock Show.
The show was founded and owned by Larry B. May, who will retain ownership of the Atlanta-based GABBS event.
“GABBS has been supporting the Boston market for the past three years and with the new management team based in Massachusetts the event can expand and address the specific needs of the bargain book distributors and book buyers in the Northeast better,” May said.

Robert "Bob" Jameson has been named the new president and CEO of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Ernest (Ernie) Wooden, Jr., has been named president and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LA Tourism).
Jameson will be replacing David Dubois, who ran the Fort Worth bureau for five years and now is president of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.
Jameson takes office effective Jan. 19.

The Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show and the Tailgating Industry Association has been acquired by Nielsen Expositions. The acquisition is effective immediately.
"The Sports Licensing & Tailgate Show is a premier trade event dedicated to sports licensing and tailgating products, and we are very excited about adding it to our sports portfolio," said Darrell Denny, senior vice president of Nielsen Expositions.

Just a few days shy of the kickoff of the AGENDA trade show for the streetwear and action sports industries, on tap Jan. 4-5 at the Long Beach (Calif.) Convention Center, it was acquired by Reed Exhibitions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CTIA-The Wireless Association will combine its larger, annual CTIA Wireless trade show, which is focused on technology and consumer electronics, and its smaller MobileCON event, with an emphasis on mobile IT solutions, into one ‘super mobile show’ in 2014.
CTIA 2014 will be held Sept. 9-11 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.
