Organiser Postpones Melbourne’s Event Showcase
Australia-based exhibition organiser, Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF), announced the postponement of the company’s special events tradeshow – Melbourne’s Event Showcase (formerly RSVP Melbourne). ETF cited residual effects of the global financial crisis, the consolidation of event suppliers and reduced marketing budgets as deciding factors to postpone the 2012 edition of the show.
Melbourne’s Event Showcase has reportedly been in decline since 2009, and ETF has reviewed the show with industry representatives and visitors after the 2010 edition, making significant investments and changes to the brand, venue and the dates of the show. The show was originally scheduled to run from June 27-28 this year at the Royal Exhibition Building.
Exhibiting company categories at Melbourne’s Event Showcase include Caterers, Equipment Hire, Event Software, Venues & Restaurants, Theme & Décor and Transportation.
Jodie Richmond, general manager & CEO of ETF, said, “The overall show format still doesn’t appear to be fully resonating with the industry. Therefore, we have taken the decision to postpone the show for this year and focus our energies on better understanding the challenges and specific needs of Melbourne’s event industry.”
