Naylor Association Solutions Acquires TechMedia

May 30, 2019

Naylor Association Solutions, a North American association software, communications, events and management services provider, has acquired TechMedia, a producer of digital marketing conferences in the United States.

The addition of these conferences will bolster Naylor’s portfolio of custom member communications, event management, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and association management services, according to Naylor officials.

“Adding the TechMedia conference business to the Naylor portfolio not only expands and diversifies our event portfolio, it will [also] provide the association market with better access to world-class digital marketing content,” said Alex DeBarr, president and CEO of Naylor. “It’s just a great business that has been growing 30-40 percent each year, and brings with it a creative and strong team.”

Founded in 2001 in North Carolina as a voice for the digital economy, TechMedia produces 20 annual conferences through its Digital Summit series, which comprise multi-day conferences focused on digital marketing and marketing technology.

The events host more than 20,000 digital marketers annually and incorporate sponsor exhibitors along with premium networking opportunities with brand marketers, digital strategists and entrepreneurs. Each year, the series produces more than 1,000 sessions on digital marketing best practices and tactics.

TechMedia also produces ancillary products for digital marketers including one-day workshops, webinars and online content.

“We’re really excited to join the Naylor family,” said Eric Gregg, TechMedia co-founder. “We think there’s a great cultural fit that will provide significant opportunity to further leverage and monetize our substantial arsenal of Digital Summit content through Naylor’s communications, websites, newsletters and other related brand extensions.”

In addition to the Digital Summit conferences, Naylor’s event portfolio now includes the management of 14 association-owned trade shows, 10 appointment-based events through its Global Exchange Events division and 95 association meetings through the WJ Weiser association management division.

“Digital Summit will continue to be the de facto community for digital marketers,” said Scott Hedrick, TechMedia co-founder. “Our partnership with Naylor will allow the digital marketing community to further flourish and continue to expand within the association market and beyond.”

Joining Naylor’s management team as executive vice presidents, Hedrick and Gregg will continue to lead the TechMedia team and business as well as oversee Naylor’s Global Exchange Events portfolio of one-on-one, appointment-based events.
