Reed Exhibitions' NEPCON South China Posts Strong Numbers
The latest edition of Reed Exhibitions’ NEPCON China, a show for the electronics manufacturing trade, drew 26,374 attendees during the three-day event held recently at the Shanghai World Expo Convention & Exhibition Center.
Of those visitors, 4,824 were VIPs (17 percent more than in 2010) and 576 were Diamond Club members (a 35-percent jump from the same period).
In addition, 1,232 buyers from high profile electronics firms took part in the show.
On a 37,500 square meters showfloor, more than 1,000 pieces of electronics manufacturing equipment, including test and measurement products and other components, were showcased by more than 500 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions.
“We are delighted to provide the industry with an expansive product showcase that covers South China’s entire electronics manufacturing chain,” said Josephine Lee, vice president of Reed Exhibitions East China.
In addition to traditional surface mount technology, test and measurement equipment, soldering, electro-static discharge machine vision, electronics manufacturing services, tools and robots were showcased on the showfloor.
Exhibitors gave the show high marks, such as Juki Corp’s Yuji Ueda, sales director of the Industrial Devices Division.
“We were glad to welcome such a high number of customers to our booth,” he said. “They were very keen to see our newest products. We were also really happy with the services Reed Exhibitions China provided and we’re already looking forward to coming back here next year.”
Alongside the traditional manufacturing equipment and processes displayed on the showfloor, NEPCON South China 2011 featured manufacturing technologies from one of the industry’s fastest emerging sectors: LED lighting.
This product category was introduced to attract new suppliers, according to Reed Exhibitions officials.
Collocated with the NEPCON event was the Electronics Assembly and Packaging Technology Expo (ATE China 2011), which also attracted a large number of visitors by displaying a full range of technologies and products for manufacturing, assembling and packaging electronics.
Besides the exhibit space, there also were several technical forums and live activities, including the SMTA China South Conference, which was organized by SMTA China and evaluated issues in electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging and lead-free reliability.
