International exhibition organiser, Koelnmesse, concluded its THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2015 last month, with record number of visitors. Running from 20th to 24th May at IMPACT Exhibition Center, the five-day trade show attracted more than 35,000 trade visitors, of those, 7,274 were from overseas. Among the 1,675 exhibitors from 16 sectors, 811 were international exhibitors. The inaugural edition of Seatrade Cruise Asia has been postponed to a later date as a result of the MERS virus outbreak in Korea according to the organiser and UBM subsidiary, Seatrade Communications. The two-day trade show was scheduled to take place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre from 11th to 12th June. Seatrade received an increasing number of withdrawal notifications from its key stakeholders including delegates, speakers and cruise lines. The battlefield of news publishing on mobile devices is heating up. After Google and Facebook, Apple is the next tech giant to enter the business of serving trending news to mobile audiences. Launched recently at the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple's all-new News app has been designed to deliver a rich news reading experience to users. The Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) voted to appoint Fred Peterson as its interim executive director, replacing the current director, James E. Rooney, who will be leaving the authority at the end of the month to become the next president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. When the recent United Fresh 2015 annual convention and expo wrapped up at Chicago’s McCormick Place, United Fresh donated 39,019 lbs. of produce and 207 lbs. of assorted dry food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Volunteers helped collect donations from the convention floor, which is filled with fresh produce companies, to benefit those in need serviced by Greater Chicago Food Depository partner agencies such as food pantries, soup kitchen, and other emergency feeding centers.
