WiSA Technologies Inks Deal to Acquire CompuSystems: What It Means for Event Organizers
Public company WiSA Technologies has agreed to acquire CompuSystems Inc. (CSI), a provider of registration, lead retrieval, and data analytics services for about 150 events and trade shows in 2024, including industry staples such as the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition, InfoComm, the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) Show, and Informa U.S. Boat Shows like the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The family-owned business was founded in 1976 by Clark Williams, who serves as CSI chairman. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the acquisition is expected to close by late January.
Last month, CompuSystems agreed to acquire EventsPass, a SaaS platform that offers advanced ticketing and registration solutions for B2C and B2B events. The strategic acquisition by WiSA positions CSI to leverage advanced technologies and expand its offerings to event organizers, exhibitors, and attendees.
We caught up with CompuSystems CEO Mark LoGiurato to find out the scoop on the deal and how it might impact its existing and prospective trade show clients.
“This acquisition by public company WiSA is a game-changer for CSI,” LoGiurato, who brokered the deal, told TSNN. “It keeps the family-owned business whole, and all 95 full-time CSI employees will join WiSA.”
A Strategic Buy
WiSA Technologies, known for its immersive wireless sound and next-generation audio technologies, views the acquisition of CSI as a key step in diversifying its business and enhancing its capabilities.
LoGiurato, who joined CSI in January 2020 right before the pandemic and was named CEO in December 2022, expressed optimism about the acquisition: “We now have the resources, technology, and backing of a forward-thinking partner to expand our offerings, explore untapped verticals, and deliver unmatched value to our clients.”
WiSA Technologies CEO Brett Moyer echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting the financial benefits of the acquisition: “Driving new revenue streams and gross margin expansion, we expect strong revenue and EBITDA contributions in 2025 from this acquisition.” CSI’s management anticipates contributing $13 million to $15 million in revenue and $3 million to $4 million in EBITDA in 2025.
Enhanced Capabilities for Events
WiSA’s acquisition is set to bring transformative changes to CSI’s platform by integrating advanced technologies such as Datavault’s ADIO and Web 3.0 capabilities. These innovations will enable:
- Proximity-Based Attendee Targeting: Enhanced tools to create more personalized and impactful attendee experiences.
- Advanced Data Insights: Sophisticated analytics to help organizers and exhibitors better understand attendee behavior.
- Data Monetization Opportunities: New revenue streams for event organizers through the strategic use of event data.
- Experiential Enhancements: Innovative features like holographic-assisted virtual tours and mobile-triggered user experiences.
These tech advancements aim to elevate the event experience for all stakeholders while offering event organizers innovative ways to engage attendees and sponsors.
Continuity and Growth
Despite the acquisition, CSI’s day-to-day operations, leadership team, and full-time staff, including LoGiurato, will remain unchanged, ensuring seamless service for existing clients. The company will operate as a division of WiSA, maintaining its strong focus on customer service while accelerating innovation and exploring new markets beyond the traditional events industry.
“We are now poised to rapidly scale our M3 platform and broaden our capabilities to provide even greater value to event organizers with sophisticated new features and advanced Web 3.0 data analytics,” LoGiurato said.
What’s Next
WiSA Technologies sees this acquisition as part of a broader vision to reshape the events industry by integrating advanced technologies into CSI’s well-established platforms, according to company officials. Nathan Bradley, CEO of Data Vault Holdings that was also recently acquired by WiSA, emphasized the potential: “Bringing ADIO and CSI together in the same corporate family will uniquely provide WiSA with the advanced technology to deliver experiential audio tours and convert vast amounts of events data into Web 3.0 assets that we will ultimately monetize.”
