PMMI Shifts PACK EXPO East Launch Dates to Meet Exhibitor Demand

April 2, 2014

PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, has moved PACK EXPO East 2015 to Feb. 16–18 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, citing the need to meet exhibitor demand.

The show originally was scheduled to launch Feb. 2-4.

“We expected PACK EXPO East to generate a lot of excitement from exhibitors, but the demand has gone beyond what we hoped for,” said Jim Pittas, vice president of trade shows, PMMI.

He added, ““With the show just under a year away, it’s already 40 percent bigger than our original projections. The new dates give us the flexibility to open up more space for exhibitors. Ultimately, the attendees will benefit from having greater access to the technologies they need.”

PACK EXPO East has 250 exhibitors signed up to display the latest packaging and processing innovations on more than 70,000 square feet of exhibit space.

PMMI officials estimate PACK EXPO East will debut with more than 400 companies exhibiting 100,000-plus net square feet next year.

“We’re very excited by the interest exhibitors are showing, and it’s clear that the innovative packaging and processing solutions we’ll see in Philadelphia next year will open up a wealth of possibilities to packaging and processing professionals on the East Coast,” Pittas added.

PMMI announced PACK EXPO East last year and space sales for the inaugural edition began in January 2014.

The decision to create an East Coast show stemmed largely from data generated by a “Voice of the Attendee” survey of PACK EXPO visitors, conducted for PMMI.

PMMI’s trade show portfolio also includes the biennial PACK EXPO International, held in Chicago and alternates with PACK EXPO Las Vegas, as well as EXPO PACK, scheduled June 18-21 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City, and EXPO PACK Guadalajara, which ran Feb. 27-March 1 at Expo Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico.
