Informa Markets to Collocate New Manufacturing Show in Anaheim

August 20, 2024

Next year, B2B event producer, publisher, and digital media business for the advanced, technology-based manufacturing industry, Informa Markets Engineering, is launching the inaugural Sustainable Manufacturing Expo, a trade show and conference for sustainable industrial manufacturing. The new event will collocate with IME West/MD&M West, joining other collocated manufacturing shows, including WestPack, Automation Technology (ATX) West, D&M West, and Plastec West.

Set for Feb. 4-6 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, IME West will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the 2025 edition, where it expects to attract more than 15,000 manufacturing professionals and 1,800 exhibiting companies.

What they are saying: “Launching Sustainable Manufacturing Expo alongside IME West creates a truly holistic event for the manufacturing community who are facing pressure to create operational efficiencies, reduce carbon emissions, and maintain profitability,” said Melissa Magestro, Informa Markets Engineering vice president and Sustainable Manufacturing Expo founder. “At the co-located events, manufacturers can maximize their investment and time out of the office by meeting with hundreds of innovative suppliers, learning from industry thought leaders on everything from medical device regulatory policies to circular economy, and taking their manufacturing processes into the future.”

Why Anaheim: As the backdrop for both shows, California continues to be at the forefront of sustainability for the U.S. Case in point: the recent passage of Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act (SB 54), which reduces single-use plastic and promotes recyclable packaging, and the introduction of SB 1013, the new requirement for beverage retailers to recycle through cooperatives or turn-ins at specific sites that has removed the option to pay opt-out fees.

The big picture: “Sustainable Manufacturing Expo sitting alongside IME West sends the right message to our audiences that sustainability is the emerging focus within manufacturing,” said Adrienne Zepeda, show director for IME West, Informa Markets Engineering. “There are many initiatives starting to support manufacturing facilities and processes to be more sustainable, more properly resourced, and the collocate provides the accountability, tools, and even more value to what West already offers.”
