In a demonstration of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, GES has once again achieved APEX/ASTM Level Two certification for the meetings and event industry.
Spearheaded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Green Meeting Industry Council, the standards were developed in collaboration between APEX (the Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange) and ASTM, an ANSI-certified international standard development organization.

The Mohegan Sun Exposition Center expansion project is more than one-third complete and on schedule for a June 2018 opening.
Last month, the leaders of Mohegan Sun and the Mohegan Tribe gathered with guests, including Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and AZ Corporation, for a ceremonial topping-off to celebrate the progress of the $80 million project, which began last March.
Over 300 signatures from ironworkers to state and local officials and Mohegan Sun and Tribe management adorned the steel beam.

ASAE Foundation recently has launched a new research project called, “Association Content Strategies for a Changing World.”
The project will explore how association leaders are navigating the shifting content development and management landscape.
Not only will the project look at the positive impacts of strategic approaches to content, but it also will examine the emerging challenges organizations face when creating content and its dissemination.

The Meetings Mean Business Coalition has appointed Julie Coker Graham, president and CEO of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, as its next co-chair.

A new salad dressing featuring honey harvested from the bee hives housed on the Javits Center’s green roof now is on the menu at the convention center’s Taste NY Bistro.
The honey-infused vinaigrette, along with other New York homegrown ingredients, is featured in a new salad offered at the facility’s cafe-style restaurant location.
Aptly named Jacob’s Honey, the homegrown honey was extracted last month by a team of Javits Center engineers in partnership with local beekeeping organization, New York City Beekeeping.

The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) has launched the Discover Atlanta: Official Guide mobile application. While mobile applications are not new technology, this is the first destination marketing app powered by the artificial intelligence of a gaming platform.
Released on Oct. 12, Discover Atlanta: Official Guide was designed and built in partnership with Winistry, makers of the Intelligent Mobile App Platform. Convention and entertainment venue management SMG unveiled at a press conference during IMEX America this week in Las Vegas that they will launch North American sales for the Shenzhen (China) World Exhibition & Convention Center.
The company was selected to manage the new venue, which will become one of the largest exhibition and convention centers in the world.
