ITE Group Buys Breakbulk Series of Shows from AXIO Data

December 27, 2014

U.K.-based ITE Group has announced the acquisition of the Breakbulk series of exhibitions and media from AXIO Data in a deal brokered by Mayfield Media Strategies.

Breakbulk events serve the transport and logistics market for large-scale project equipment. They are held annually in Houston, Antwerp, Shanghai, Johannesburg, Istanbul and Sao Paulo.

The acquisition also includes a print and digital magazine with expanded industry coverage along with exhibition websites that serve the global breakbulk community.

"ITE is continuing to build businesses in strategically important industry sectors and the acquisition of Breakbulk increases our presence in the global transport and logistics sector,” said ITE’s CEO Russell Taylor.

He added, “This complementary move represents progress in achieving the Group’s ambitions to expand its operations in markets and geographies with further potential for growth as well as continuing to diversify the geo-political risk in our portfolio. I am delighted that Alli and her team will be joining ITE to strengthen our presence in the transport and logistics sector.”

Breakbulk’s main events take place in Shanghai in March, Antwerp in April and Houston in October. The current management team, including Breakbulk’s Managing Director Alli McEntyre, will stay with the business.

The U.S. Breakbulk show was held in Houston on October and drew 5,000 attendees and 300 exhibitors to the George R. Brown Convention Center.

The Breakbulk shows will likely be a welcome respite for ITE, since more than half of its portfolio is based in Russia where the ruble’s value has been halved recently in the sanctions-hit country.
