The Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) reported results of its biennial economic impact study report. Compiled by KPMG Transaction Advisory Services, the report shows Hong Kong’s exhibition industry contributed US$4.6 billion towards the local economy in 2010, compared with US$3.9 billion in 2008, or equivalent to 2.1 percent of Hong Kong’s total GDP. UBM Asia has opened an office in Shenzhen, which will focus on sales and marketing functions for UBM Asia’s jewelry portfolio comprising exhibitions, publications and Web sites. More than 2,100 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions – a new exhibitor record at the show – took part in the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), which ran Oct. 27-30 October at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Not only did the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) recently launch the first phase of its Web site and a new QR Code at IMEX America, but also it scored record numbers at the Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference 2011 in July in Kuala Lumpur. Global Sources' China Sourcing Fairs exhibition brand is expanding to another continent, South America, where the brand will be launched in August in Sao Paolo.
