Natural Products Expo West was held once again, drawing more than 80,000 attendees to nearly 500,000 square feet of exhibit floor space, March 8-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
While there was great activity on the main floor, approximately 20 percent of the show’s exhibitors, found in the Marriott and Hilton, opened a day ahead.
Many attendees took the advantage of this staggered floor opening by coming early to the show and packing into these areas to see new exhibitors and new products.

The trade show industry is no stranger to teaming up with charities and demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, and one recent Las Vegas-based trade show went out of its way to exemplify that dedication to helping those in need.

The Los Angeles Convention Center recently reported its achievement of a record-breaking 90.3 percent waste diversion rate for the 2016 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, held Oct. 5-7.
This marks a historic accomplishment for both the show and the LACC, which partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council and Informa Exhibitions to divert Greenbuild’s recyclables and composting out of the facility’s waste stream.

The overall largest trade show in the United States, the triennial CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE, just grew even more when it was held last week in Las Vegas.
The 2017 show spanned a record 2.8 million-plus net square feet of exhibits, with a record 2,800-plus exhibitors from the leading U.S. and global manufacturers, from multinational giants to small firms with specialized products.

With Winter Storm Stella bearing down on the East Coast and the brunt of it striking today, trade shows up and down the East Coast from Atlantic City to New York City canceled or closed early.
On Monday, N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency with parts of the state, as well as seven other ones, predicting blizzard conditions and more than 18 inches of snow.

Emerald Expositions is continuing its buying streak by snapping up the International Drone Conference and Exposition (“InterDrone”), a commercial unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) trade show and conference based in North America, from BZ Media LLC.

The positive overall jobs report last week seems to be reflected in the trade show industry as well, with more companies bringing on new hires and promoting from within.
Core-apps hired association and events veteran Christine Davis as sales manager and promoted long-time employee Megan Pierce to director of Account Management.
Davis comes to Core-apps from roles at SmithBucklin, PCMA and in association management.
Pierce has been with Core-apps for five years and now will lead the account management team as second in command for that division.

Last year was a good one for convention business in the City of Brotherly Love. According to the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB), 2016 marked its highest convention booking year ever, with 713 events using 903,199 hotel room nights secured for future years.
Those figures represent an 18.2 percent and a 5.8 percent increase in the number of events and room nights secured, respectively, compared with 2015.
