U.K.-Based Tarsus Group continues to expand into markets worldwide, with one new partnership deal that moves the company into Mexico and another that includes a show launch in Thailand.
In the first deal, Tarsus agreed to acquire a 50-percent interest in a company that owns two major exhibitions in Mexico from E.J. Krause & Associates to establish a joint venture with EJK.

The ITE Group formed a 50:50 Joint Venture with Hong Kong-based Worldcoat Exhibitions Ltd., resulting in the creation of a new organizer, Sinostar ITE, and acquisition of two major trade events, ChinaCoat and SFChina (surface finishing).
"This is an important step as we begin building a business in China and it further increases our presence in the wider Asian region,” said ITE Group CEO Russell Taylor.

ProWine China, a new event from the organizer of ProWein – the largest exhibition for wines and spirits held annually in Düsseldorf, Germany – was jointly organized by the Messe Düsseldorf Group and China International Exhibitions Ltd, a member of the Allworld Exhibitions network.
The new show drew 570 exhibitors from 30 nations, who showcased their new vintages and product innovations to 7,650 trade visitors.

This week, NASDAQ-listed Global Sources released its results for the third quarter ended 30th September 2013. The company reported revenues of US$45 million, down 24% compared with the same quarter in 2012. Net profit attributable to shareholders in the quarter was US$5.4 million, a drop of 35% from the third quarter last year.
Nearly half of Global Sources’ revenues were generated from online services, amounting US$22 million, a 26% decrease year-on-year. Print revenues dropped 19% to US$3.4 million in the quarter, and accounted for 7.5% of total revenues. The management attributed… more

Messe Frankfurt recently concluded a record-breaking edition of Beautyworld Japan West with attendance from 210 exhibitors from five countries and regions. The event was held at the INTEX Osaka from 21st to 23rd October 2013.

A new commercial maritime trade show, Seawork Asia, will launch its inaugural edition from 4th to 6th November 2014 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center.
Seawork Asia is organised by Seawork Asia Company Ltd, a joint venture company in China form by U.K.-based Mercator Media Ltd. The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has outbid the likes of South Korea to establish the headquarters of the Asian Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (AACVB) in Bangkok, effective from 1st January 2014.
Thailand’s selection was attributed to its excellent connection for business along with its strong relations to regionals organisations, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

Six months after Hanley Wood bought the Greenbuild Conference & Expo from the U.S. Green Building Council, the two entities have teamed up, along with Green Building Council Italia and Veronafiere, to launch Greenbuild for Europe and the Mediterranean region in 2014 in Verona, Italy.

Healthcare exhibitors are keenly aware of the timeline for implementation of the 2010 federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s Physician Payment Sunshine provisions, which require disclosure of certain payments or gifts to physicians.
In the Final Rule released by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Feb. 1, applicable manufacturers and group purchasing organizations, many who are exhibitors, are currently in the period between required payment data capture, which began Aug. 1 and initial reporting, which begins March 31.
