In a research study published recently, researchers demonstrated that a variety of visual factors, such as the color and balance of the elements on a plate, can influence a diner’s perception of, and response to, food. They found that subjects willingly paid higher-than-normal price for a salad that was presented to resemble a famous abstract painting by the artist Kandinsky. Diners also reported enjoying it more than another salad with the same ingredients but plated in a more ordinary manner. PMMI — The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies – wrapped up its biannual PACK EXPO International last week, along with the newly collocated Pharma EXPO 2014,  and attracted a 6.5 percent increase in attendance, compared with 2012, topping 48,600 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The Consumer Electronics Association named Denise Medved vice president of sales and business development for the International CES and International CES Asia. Medved previously ran Tiny Kitchen Inc., where she served as president and CEO since its establishment in 2005. U.K.-based Tarsus Group posted its Interim Management Statement from July 1, 2014 to Nov. 10, 2014 that indicated that results were in line with the company’s expectations, with key events performing well. After the highly successful concept of the wine and spirits trade fairs ProWein in Düsseldorf, Germany, and ProWine China in Shanghai, Messe Düsseldorf will organize a new satellite event for Southeast Asia: ProWine Asia. The first staging will take place April 12-16, 2016, at the Singapore Expo.
