Nearly 20,000 Buyers at HKTDC’s Watch & Clock Fair
The 34th edition of Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, co-organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd., ran from 8th to 12nd September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
The Watch & Clock Fair featured more than 780 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, with first time exhibitors from Bermuda, Denmark, Lebanon, Russia and Spain. The five-day event attracted over 19,600 buyers, up about 2% compared with the previous year. Encouraging visitor numbers were recorded from some major buyer markets including Italy, France, Australia, Korea, India, Vietnam and Iran. As buyers are shortening the delivery lead-time and placing smaller orders, the HKTDC has set-up an online platform, which showcases products with minimum orders of less than 1,000 pieces.
HKTDC’s deputy executive director, Benjamin Chau, said, “Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair provides an ideal platform for the industry to network and conduct business. Although Hong Kong’s watch and clock industry has to battle rising rents and operating costs, it has been able to push ahead using its versatility and creativity. The mid-range affordable luxury products Hong Kong has launched, the smart watches and accessories it developed and the e-tailing channels it opened, have attracted global attention.”
