Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Management Ltd. Makes Three Executive Hires

October 8, 2012

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre’s management company, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd (“HML”), hired three new senior executives.

They were hired in positions in the Security, and Food & Beverage Departments, and the new executives have been charged to reinforce and advance the HKCEC’s contributions as a corporate citizen, and its reputation for providing world class service to customers and visitors.

“At HML, we are absolutely committed to playing our role as a responsible corporate citizen and in offering our exhibitors, visitors, contractors and staff a safe and enjoyable environment,” said Managing Director Monica Lee-Müller.

She added, ”These three appointments show just how serious we are in achieving these goals, and I am delighted we have been able to welcome such high calibre professional onto our team.”

To demonstrate its commitment to sustainability across its operations, HML has appointed long-serving staff member Katherine Tang as Sustainability Manager, a newly created full-time position overseeing the company’s initiatives in environmental protection, community services and staff wellness.

Her in-depth familiarity with the HKCEC’s operations and her personal knowledge of and passion for environmental issues have prepared her perfectly for this role, and her work is proving vital in helping HML meet important new goals as a responsible corporate citizen, according to HKCEC officials.

Among other responsibilities, Tang will be chairing a cross-department Sustainability Steering Committee designed to foster company-wide staff communication and co-operation.

Taking on the role of Emergency Preparedness Manager in HML’s Security Department is John Bicknell. He advises the management team on safety policy and is active in identifying and introducing measures to enhance safety and manage emergency situations.

He also is responsible for deploying manpower, implementing new policies and procedures and upgrading equipment and technology to ensure the organisation is well prepared to respond to emergencies and minimize their impact.

Bicknell has more than 35 years of experience in the Hong Kong Police Force, up to Deputy Regional Commander level.

His experience in safety and security issues will bring even greater reassurance to the millions of organisers, visitors, contractors and staff who use the HKCEC each year.

Additionally, Simon Lee has taken on the role of HML’s Food & Beverage Manager – Restaurants. Lee has more than 20 years’ experience in prestigious hotel and restaurant groups.

He brings to the HML proven experience will lead to further upgrades in the food and beverage service standards at the HKCEC’s seven on-site restaurants, according to HKCEC officials.
