UBM Asia’s INTERMACH, SUBCON Thailand and Sheet Metal Asia 2011 drew 33,016 attendees to this year’s show, a 20-percent increase, compared with the previous show. In addition, international attendance also saw a huge jump this year, with a 25-percent increase, compared with the previous show. Thailand is directly targeting the luxury MICE market with a new initiative that’s part of the Thailand Convention & Visitors Bureau’s “Believe in Thailand” campaign. Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre Management (HML) was presented the Award for Organisation with the Highest Amount of Carbon Footprint Reduction and the Carbon “Less” 14% Certificate of the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) in recognition of HML’s efforts in carbon reduction during 2009. Sydney jumped an impressive 17 spots to snag the No. 10 ranking out of 364 global business destinations on the 2010 International Convention & Congress Association List.
