Asian Exhibition Services (AES), organiser of the alternative fuels event NGV Bangkok, will launch the AFT Asia 2013 – Alternative Fuel Transport Exhibition & Conference. The two trade shows will be co-located at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) and run from 7th to 9th November 2013. AFT Asia is endorsed by the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Transport Foundation and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF), the leading Malaysian furniture trade show owned by UBM Asia, announced an alliance with the Muar Furniture Association (MFA) that is expected to expand the show’s exhibition space by 25 percent in 2013. MFA is one of the most prominent furniture industry groups in Malaysia and its members generate 45 percent of Malaysia’s furniture exports. Reed Exhibitions Greater China has announced its plans to expand its scholarship programme for young Chinese students who study Event Management across mainland China. The company intends to expand the programme through its partnership with the National Society of Event Management Educators to span across 50 leading universities across the country. Reed first launched its scholarship programme in 2007 through the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) with the aim to attract young talent to the industry. The Boston-based Great American Bargain Book Show (GABBS) was bought by Framingham, Mass.-based Advisor Communications and will be renamed the Boston Remainder & Overstock Show. The show was founded and owned by Larry B. Robert "Bob" Jameson has been named the new president and CEO of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Ernest (Ernie) Wooden, Jr., has been named president and CEO of the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (LA Tourism). Jameson will be replacing David Dubois, who ran the Fort Worth bureau for five years and now is president of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.
