Last month, the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority awarded Chemical Bank the exclusive naming rights for Cobo Center via a 22-year, $1.5 million-per-year agreement. Hong Kong-listed Pico Far East reported its annual results for the year ended 31st October 2018. The company posted record-high revenues of US$590 million, up 16% year-on-year. However, the company’s net profit dropped 3.5% during the year down to US$35 million. Diluted earnings per share for the year were HK$0.2198 (US$0.028). The company attributed the growth in revenue to the effectiveness of its Pico+ strategies which successfully mitigated the knock-on effect created by rising global trade tensions and weakening economic conditions in some key markets. Earlier this week, international exhibition organiser, Messe Düsseldorf, announced management changes. Marius Berlemann will become the General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Limited and Bastian Mingers will serve as the Global Head of Wine & Spirits (including the ProWein trade fair portfolio). Both new roles are effective as of 1st April 2019. Berlemann will succeed Heiko M. Stutzinger, who officially left the company on 31st January 2019. The RELX Group (formerly Reed Elsevier) released its financial results for the year ended 31st December 2018. Total revenues were £7.5 billion (US$9.5 billion), representing an underlying increase of 4%. Adjusted operating profit increased by 6% to £2.3 billion (US$3.0 billion). Its exhibitions business generated revenues of £1.2 billion (US$1.5 billion), representing underlying revenue growth of 6%. Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Programme (BFP) has reportedly doubled the value of business events secured in Australia in the past three months reaching A$187 million (US$134 million). Since the launch of the BFP in July 2018, a total of 14 new events have been confirmed for Australia. In a development for China’s textile care market, it’s been announced that the upcoming edition of the new TXCA & CLE show, an international trade fair for textile laundry, leather care, cleaning technology and equipment, will be held Sept. 25-27 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China.
