Hannover Fairs USA, IBTM Announce New Shows

June 24, 2019

Hannover Fairs USA and IBTM will each launch a new show in 2020.

The U.S. subsidiary of Deutsche Messe in Germany, Hannover Fairs USA, will debut Interschutz USA next year. Interschutz, currently the world’s largest trade show for fire and rescue services, takes place every five years in Germany. It will be complemented by Interschutz USA, set for Oct. 13-17, 2020 at Pennsylvania Convention Center in Pennsylvania.

This new show will provide a global view of firefighting equipment and tactics, and demonstrate safety techniques that reflect the current and future strategies of U.S. firefighting teams.

“The U.S. fire service has tremendous respect for the Interschutz brand and its size and scope,” said Larry Turner, president and CEO of HFUSA.

He added, “Many of the industry representatives we have been meeting with are incredibly enthusiastic about the launch of the show in America. This is an exciting time for all of us at Hannover Fairs USA as we move forward with our latest event launch.”

Philadelphia, which established its own firefighting traditions more than 275 years ago, is an ideal spot for the first edition of Interschutz USA.

“Philadelphia has a proud history of firefighting innovation led by Ben Franklin, who organized the country’s first Union Fire Company in 1736,” said Kavin Schieferdecker, senior vice president of the convention division at the Philadelphia CVB.

He added, “We are so pleased and honored that Interschutz has selected Philadelphia to host their first U.S.-based trade show and look forward to building long-term relationships with Hannover Fairs USA.”

On the opposite side of the world, IBTM, part of Reed Travel Exhibitions, has announced it will launch IBTM Asia Pacific. The new show is scheduled for April 6-8, 2020, at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.

“Launching a new event for the Asia Pacific market is not only exciting for the IBTM brand, it is also supported by the fact that the region’s business events industry is expected to see the highest growth rate in the world to reach $441.1B by 2025 [according to Allied Market Research],” said Shane Hannam, portfolio director for IBTM.

He added, “It’s a market we know very well, and our research has shown that there’s genuine demand for a regionally focused event, both from our existing customer base, but also from the industry in general. It’s an exciting new addition to the industry calendar not only for IBTM, but also for the wider business events market.”

The schedule for IBTM Asia Pacific includes two days of pre-scheduled, one-on-one business meetings, plus education and networking. It will also include IBTM’s hosted buyer program, and be preceded by a day of local tours for international buyers.

“Singapore is considered APAC’s regional hub for the business events market, and that, combined with its excellent infrastructure and long-standing reputation as a global business destination, mean[s] that it was the natural choice as our host city,” said Hannam.

IBTM’s current portfolio includes IBTM World in Barcelona, IBTM Americas in Mexico City, IBTM China in Beijing, IBTM Arabia in Abu Dhabi and IBTM Africa in Cape Town.
