The Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association released its list of the top 50 largest medical meetings held in the United States last year.
The Greater New York Dental Meeting topped the list, with more than 58,000 reported total attendees, followed by the Radiological Society of North America’s annual meeting. FIME, American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society for Neuroscience rounded out the top five.
In 2010, the average total attendance for the top 50 healthcare meetings was 19,512, a 5.1-percent increase, compared with2009.

New Hope Natural Media’s Natural Products Expo East saw significant growth with a move back to its long-time home this year at the Baltimore Convention Center.
The 2011 show, held Sept. 21-24, drew more than 20,000 attendees to a 150,000 net square foot showfloor with 1,500 exhibits, compared with a similar number of attendees, but a smaller 137,000 net sq. ft. showfloor with 1,300 exhibits at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center last year.

Fifteen thousand attendees gathered for the National Society for Histotechnology’s 37th Annual Symposium and Convention Sept. 16-21 at the Duke Energy Convention Center.
The attendees also used nearly 5,000 hotel room nights, according to the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau officials.

As medical travel becomes more and more prevalent, events serving that sector are starting to pop up, including the Well-Being Travel Conference next year in Arizona.
The conference will be held June 21-23 at the The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is being sponsored by Well-Being Travel, a resource for the niche medical travel market.

The United States Green Building Council’s Greenbuild International Conference & Expo will be held for the first time outside of the U.S. in Toronto.
The show, on tap Oct. 4-7 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, includes programming, workshops and an exhibition floor that provides attendees an “unrivaled opportunity to learn about the latest technological innovations, explore new products and network with other professionals,” according to MTCC officials.

Despite the fact Libyan revolutionary forces still are in the grips of trying to completely take back the country and remove its long-time leader, Moammar Gadhafi, U.K.-based Montgomery Worldwide has monitored developments and decided to reenter the trade show market with two events through its Montgomery Libya Ltd. (MLL) division.
The two shows - ReBuild Libya 2012 and Oil & Gas Libya 2012 – tentatively are scheduled to be held in the first quarter of 2012, according to MLL officials.

The American Beverage Association sold its biennial InterBev show, an event for the U.S. beverage industry, to NürnbergMesse North America.
“We acquired InterBev from the American Beverage Association,” said Dirk Ebener, CEO and director of NürnbergMesse North America, which is based in Atlanta. “They will support InterBev with their industry knowledge.”

TIPREX 2011, Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition drew a record crowd of 10,500 attendees Aug. 31-Sept. 3 to the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre.
The number of attendees, 15 percent of which were from overseas, was a 30-percent increase, compared with the last time the event was held in 2009.
Countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam were strongly represented by the attendees.
There also were 215 exhibitors on the showfloor, including country pavilions from Austria, Singapore and Taiwan.
