Myanmar’s first official show servingthe feed, livestock and meat industry, Livestock Myanmar 2014 Expo, ranfrom 23rd to 25th January at Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall. Co-organised by two UBM Asiasubsidiaries, UBM Malaysiaand UBM Asia (Thailand), the show featured around 80 exhibitors from 13 countries where 90% were from overseas.

Singapore Expo Convention and Exhibition Centre and its convention wing, MAX Atria, held more than 800 events in 2013 – an increase of 13% over 2012. Singex, the venue’s management company reported a total of 7.5 million visitors attended these events, up 25% year-on-year. The venue is forecasting a 10% growth in the number of events and total visitors in 2014.

Reed Exhibitions Japan’s NEPCON JAPAN – 43rd Electronics R&D and Manufacturing Technology Expo, concluded earlier this month posting a new show record of 1,767 exhibitors – up 11% overthe previous year. The three-day trade show was concurrently held along with Automotive Worldand Lighting Japan.
Billed as Asia’s largest exhibition for electronic design, R&D and manufacturing, Nepcon Japan, ran from 15th to 17th January 2014 at Tokyo Big Sight. Over 60,000 visitors were reportedly on hand to view the latest innovations in the electronics and PCB industry… more

On the heels of unveiling the launch of a new show in Mexico geared toward the education sector last week, Tarsus Group bought two more properties – a medical business in the U.S. and a construction business in Turkey – to add to its fast-growing portfolio.
"The two acquisitions are further steps in the execution of our ‘Quickening the Pace’ strategy. Both are exciting events in markets where we have established a strong presence and which we believe are likely to show further growth,” said Douglas Emslie, Tarsus Group’s managing director.

Viad, the parent company of Global Experience Specialists, saw its 2013 full-year income from continuing operations rise, but its revenues drop year-over year, compared with 2012, mainly attributed to negative show rotation.
Viad’s full-year income from continuing operations rose to $20.4 million to end last year, compared with $5.3 million in 2012, and revenue of $972.8 million was down $52.4 million, or 5.1 percent, from 2012.
Even with the overall revenue decrease, GES saw a profit uptick, doubling from $5.6 million in 2012 to $11 million last year.

Known and beloved by many, the trade show industry lost 50-year veteran Bob Dallmeyer after a two-month battle with throat cancer.
In 1985, Bob launched a global exhibition management company – RD International – at which he consulted for hundreds of organizations, including the National Association of Music Merchants, Kallman Worldwide, AT&T, IBM and H.H. Builders are building again was the sentiment at the new Design and Construction Week launched this year by collocating the National Association of Home Builders’ International Builders’ Show (IBS) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS).
