October 21, 2012

Two of Messe Duesseldorf’s recent medical-related shows in Singapore grew in attendance.

The staging of OS+H Asia, 8th Occupational Safety & Health Exhibition for Asia in Singapore concluded with a strong increase in exhibitor and visitor participation: 163 exhibiting companies from 22 countries showcased their products to 5,918 trade visitors - with 20 percent coming from overseas, primarily from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

With the more than 15-percent growth in the number of visitors and the distinct increase of exhibitors, this was the highest ever turnout since the trade fair’s premiere in 1998, according to show organizers.

“OS+H Asia 2012 is a vibrant event and the only one of its kind in the region, and the number of loyal and pleased visitors and companies who have committed to exhibit with us in two years’ time is a true testimony of that,” said Gernot Ringling, managing director of Messe Duesseldorf Asia.

He added, “We will continue to work with the industry to raise the bar for OS+H Asia and further enhance its position as a must attend event in Asia. We remain committed to providing the industry with the best location to network and find the best in products, training and innovative solutions for better workplace safety and health.”

The 9th edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies, recently concluded in Singapore with another record attendance in the show’s 15 year history: 528 international and regional exhibitors from 31 countries and 8,821 professional visitors took part.

A significant number of the visitors came from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Compared with the event’s last staging in 2010, visitor numbers grew by 25 percent, of which 35 percent were from overseas.

In her opening speech, Dr. Amy Khor, Minister of State for Health and Manpower, said MEDICAL FAIR ASIA’s position as a leading platform for international companies interested in accessing the lucrative Southeast Asian market and for local companies to meet with some of the largest brand names in the sector.

“MEDICAL FAIR ASIA has firmly established itself as a leading and authoritative exhibition for the medical and health care sectors, as well as a launch pad for new product innovations,” Ringling said.

He added, “With the synergistic collocation of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA with MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, both exhibitions were held at a time when the medical equipment manufacturing and health care markets in Southeast Asia are thriving, specifically in Singapore. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA has grown remarkably since its debut and I am optimistic about the future of the exhibition as it continues to grow in accordance with the development of the industry.”

On the exhibitor side, MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2012 dedicated special sections on the showfloor to 12 distinct international country pavilions and groups.

Featured countries included Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States.

International visitors included delegations from Malaysia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation in addition to hospital and medical distributor groups from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
