NY International Gift Fair Show Manager Dorothy Belshaw Switches to International Market Centers Gift Division

March 12, 2012

For nearly 20 years, Dorothy Belshaw has worked for George Little Management, most recently as vice president and show director of the New York International Gift Fair, but now she’s taken a new position as president of the International Market Centers’ Gift Division.

"I am very pleased to have a true industry leader and professional join our executive team. Dorothy brings the leadership and experience to accelerate the growth of our Gift+Home show in Las Vegas,” said Robert Maricich, CEO of International Market Centers.

He added, “As a recognized and proven leader, Dorothy brings a wealth of expertise and relationships to help establish Gift+Home as the industry's premier Western Market.”

International Market Centers owns and manages the World Market Center, home of the biannual Las Vegas Markets and other shows in Las Vegas, and showroom space in High Point, N.C., home of the Spring and Fall High Point Markets.

In all, International Market Centers manages 11.5 million square feet for the furnishings, home décor and gift industries.

In her most recent position at the biannual NYIGF, Belshaw oversaw GLM's sales, customer service and corporate communications departments.

"I've enjoyed working with GLM and the challenges and opportunities it has afforded over the years" Belshaw said.

She added, "I leave behind a strong, seasoned NYIGF team to carry out the sales, marketing, management and operations of the Fair, as well as the NYIGF ‘Focus Forward 2013’ strategic reorganization that is underway."

Belshaw's last day at GLM is March 21.

GLM has been through a series of changes during the past few years, with its parent company, dmg world media, selling off portions of the portfolio.

Most recently, Private Equity Firm Providence Equity Partners acquired GLM for $173 million in August from the Daily Mail and General Trust, parent company of dmg world media.

The acquisition was made through a new holding company headed by Charles McCurdy, who previously was CEO of Canon Communications.

"Dorothy has played an integral role in the success of GLM and the New York International Gift Fair. Under her direction, the NYIGF has become the nation's defining marketplace for fashion-forward and design-driven home, gift and lifestyle resources. We thank her for her service and contributions, and wish her success in future endeavors," GLM’s CEO McCurdy.

He added, "We are developing a plan to reassign Dorothy's responsibilities within GLM and expect an announcement before her departure."

The NYIGF’s summer and winter editions were both ranked on the 2010 TSNN Top 250 Trade Show List, Nos. 26 and 29, respectively.
