Trade Show Moves: Monthly Recap of Who’s Working Where Now
In January, the U.S. trade show industry kicked off 2025 with a bang as organizations far and wide reported a plethora of new hires, promotions, and executive appointments.
TSNN’s Take on the biggest move in the last month: Nineteen Group appointed 25-year event industry veteran Mary Larkin as president of its Americas division as the company enters its next phase of its growth in the continent.
The big picture: Headquartered in London and backed by Phoenix Equity Partners, Nineteen Group is an events and media company specializing in large-scale B2B trade exhibitions and conferences focused on sectors including security, fire safety, emergency services, health and safety, facilities management, and maintenance engineering.
Need to know: Larkin started her extensive career at Montgomery Exhibitions and worked for Diversified for 28 years, most recently serving as its U.S. president before being appointed CEO, Americas of Arc network. An active member of the events community who serves on the boards of industry associations, such as UFI and SISO, her appointment comes as Phoenix Equity Partners recently announced it had raised a £200 (more than $248 USD) million continuation fund to extend its partnership with Nineteen Group after the events company significantly over-performed its original plans, thus allowing its rapid international growth to continue.
What she’s saying: “Joining the Nineteen Group was very appealing to me for several reasons, including their impressive growth over the past few years, their recent expansion, and most importantly, their drive to put culture first–there is great energy and positivity at the company,” Larkin said. “I like the broad variety of industries served by Nineteen, the expansion of the events and the endless opportunities that await us in the U.S. Obviously, we want to bring current industry events within Nineteen to the U.S. through launches, but we also expect to grow through acquisitions. I look forward to creating another Nineteen Group division that is a great place to work in the U.S.”
