UBM's Ecobuild to Team Up with Greenbuild

July 22, 2012

Ecobuild is held in London and is focused on sustainable design, construction and build environment. The last edition of this event was held in March this year and featured 57,000 trade visitors and 1,500 exhibitors. There are already cloned versions of this exhibition in China and India.

AMB’s Greenbuild Asia is held in Kuala Lumpur and focused on sustainable building, design and construction. It is held alongside the International Construction Week 2012 which is hosted by the Construction Industry Development Board. The last edition of Greenbuild featured more than 11,000 trade visitors and 450 exhibitors. In 2013, Greenbuild will be moved to the larger venue of Putra World Trade Centre, to handle its recent growth.

In May 2011, UBM acquired some AMB’s events including the company’s water, livestock, energy, and mechanical industry events which are held in Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. The Greenbuild Asia event was not part of that acquisition.

Jimé Essink, President and CEO of UBM Asia, said, “Southeast Asia is a big potential market for sustainable construction and building. We are very pleased that our Ecobuild events can co-operate with AMB’s Greenbuild event to tap this market because we have experienced the tremendous contribution from Andrew and his team to UBM’s accelerated growth in the exhibition industry in Southeast Asia, which made UBM Malaysiaalready the biggest exhibition organiser in Malaysia.”
