November 20, 2011

Mesago Messe Frankfurt, a division of Germany’s Messe Frankfurt that specializes in exhibitions and conferences on various topics of technology, has acquired the ID World portfolio of events from Wise Media.

The ID World Events represent the leading technology and sector spanning conferences with associated trade fairs for the growing automatic identification market. The events’ key themes are RFID, biometrics, which routinely are used in the medical field, smart cards and data collection.

So far, Milan, Abu Dhabi and Rio de Janeiro have hosted the events to date and, with the acquisition of ID World Events, the flagship event, ID World International Congress, will relocate in 2012 from Milan to Frankfurt.

“The Messe Frankfurt Congress Center will provide the ideal environment for this prime event attended by top decision-makers within manufacturing, purchasing and policy making from across the world,” said Johann Thoma, president of Mesago Messe Frankfurt.

Through the acquisition of ID World, Mesago Messe Frankfurt has enhanced its event portfolio.

“ID World fits well into our portfolio of events on technological, special-interest topics,” Thoma said.

He added, “With more than 20 years’ international experience in this sector. We will be able to strengthen and develop the leading position of ID World.”

Sophie de la Griroday, managing director of Wise Media, added, “We have known for a long time that for ID World to reach its full potential we would have to increase the organizational capacity in line with its growth.”

She added, “Mesago Messe Frankfurt is the ideal partner to undertake this task.” Griroday will continue to be involved in developing the ID World concept.

“Sophie de la Giroday has achieved something quite phenomenal over the last 10 years with the ID World events.” Thoma said. “She is extremely well connected, recognizes early on the trends in the market and has considerable expertise in the sector.”

In 2012, the ID World calendar of events will include ID World Abu Dhabi, the fifth EMEA Summit in the United Arab Emirates in March, ID World Rio de Janeiro, the second Americas Summit in Brazil in June, and the 11th ID World International Congress Oct. 16-18 in Frankfurt.
