Macau Held 366 MICE Events in Q1
Last week, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released its MICE statistics for the first quarter of 2017, indicating that a total of 366 MICE events were held in the city – that represents an increase of 18% year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees also increased – rising 62%, reaching over 222,000 in the quarter.
According to DSEC, a total of 344 meetings and conferences were held in the period, representing growth of 17%. The total number of participants recorded a significant increase of 112%, up to 54,000.
Seven exhibitions were held in the quarter, compared with four in the same quarter last year. The number of participants was 163,000, up 49% year-on-year. The average gross size of these exhibitions was 14,000 m2 – up 39% compared with the previous year.
