Los Angeles CVB Launches Virtual Discovery L.A. for Meeting Professionals

October 30, 2016

During this year’s IMEX America, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (L.A. Tourism) launched Virtual Discovery L.A., a new virtual reality travel platform that provides meeting professionals with immersive 360-degree viewing experiences of more than 50 only-in-L.A. venues and locations across Los Angeles – the most comprehensive virtual tour of any destination in the world.

In partnership with XplorIt, one of the nation’s leading pioneers in virtual technology, L.A. Tourism’s exciting new platform takes meeting professionals throughout the city’s unique attractions and popular destinations to help plan prospective meetings, receptions and events in Los Angeles. Virtual Discovery L.A. features distinct venues including L.A. LIVE, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Getty Center, The Studios at Paramount, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, Petersen Automotive Museum, and L.A. Memorial Coliseum, among many others.

“Following last year’s launch of our acclaimed meetla.com website, L.A. Tourism continues to elevate the destination’s meeting planning process with an immersive virtual travel experience for all generations of the meeting community,” said Darren K. Green, senior vice president of sales at L.A. Tourism. “Planners can use Virtual Discovery L.A. to conveniently explore a variety of L.A.’s premier venues in a virtual setting and easily navigate the regions of Los Angeles like never before.”

Up-to-date information such as venue capacities and square footage are readily available as users experience each virtual location along with insightful video vignettes. Virtual Discovery L.A. can be viewed directly on a smartphone, desktop, or tablet, or used with a VR viewer such as Google Cardboard.

Virtual Discovery L.A. will also soon be accessible through L.A. Tourism’s forthcoming free MeetL.A. app, meetla.com’s mobile application. The app, which will debut early November 2016, will reflect the website’s cutting-edge design and features for meeting professionals looking to conduct business in Los Angeles from the palm of their hand.
