Interprefy Unveils Two-Way AI Speech Translation Solution for Events

August 18, 2023

In August, multilingual meeting technology and services provider Interprefy debuted a major upgrade to its artificial intelligence (AI) real-time translation solution, which translates live speech from 45 languages and regional dialects into AI-generated audio and captions in 74 languages.

Interprefy’s solution now supports two-way translation and can simultaneously translate multiple spoken languages during live events and meetings — the first and only live translation solution capable of doing so, according to Interprefy officials.

“As global communication continues to expand, so should the capabilities of live translation technology,” said Interprefy CEO Oddmund Braaten. “Now we are introducing the world's first AI translation solution that can support multiple spoken floor languages and two-way interpretation in live events.”

He continued, “This game-changing upgrade reaffirms our dedication to breaking language barriers and fostering meaningful connections in a multilingual world.”

Braaten added that since its launch in April, Interprefy’s AI-powered speech translation solution has quickly gained adoption and was recognized at the recent AI for Good Global Summit, a U.N. platform that promotes AI to advance health, climate, gender, inclusive prosperity, sustainable infrastructure and other global development priorities.

For event organizers, businesses and institutions seeking to deliver inclusive and seamless multilingual experiences, Interprefy’s AI solution latest upgrade sets a new standard in the field of AI-driven speech translation, Braaten said.

Traditionally, AI speech translation systems have been limited to translating from one spoken language into many other target languages. Until Interprefy launched its solution, AI wasn’t suitable for multilingual conferences, training and panels with diverse speakers, Braaten said.

Key features of the upgrade include:

  • Multilingual Floor Language Translation: Interprefy AI allows event organizers to deliver AI speech translation for events in more than one language.
  • Two-way Interpretation Capability: The solution can recognize what language is being spoken, which means that users can speak and listen in their preferred language using AI.
  • Improved Translation Quality: Interprefy’s ability to combine and benchmark different technologies and engines and tailor algorithms has improved its AI output quality. Thus, users can be sure they are always accessing the best technology and translation quality for their chosen language combinations.
  • Seamless Integration: The solution integrates into any third-party meeting platform and works for in-person and hybrid set-ups. The Interprefy mobile app’s user interface ensures smooth navigation and easy access to a wide range of supported languages in any multilingual scenario.

Interprefy’s AI solution works in more than 80 event platforms, such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, to create seamless and budget-friendly language access for webinars, town halls, training sessions, conferences and meetings. Event planners can also use the solution to translate live events and conferences, as well as provide their attendees with language access through their smartphones or radio /infrared receivers.

Using a combination of cloud-based and AI technology, linguistic talent and top-tier support, Interprefy supports global businesses, institutions, NGOs and small and mid-sized enterprises in reaching global audiences and facilitating multilingual conversations. Since 2015, the company’s remote-first global team has supported more than 50,000 meetings and events across the world for myriad clients, including the White House, UEFA, Google and GlaxoSmithKline.
