Glasstech Asia Poised for Even More Growth This Year

May 9, 2011

When the 9th edition of Glasstech Asia opens its doors Nov. 23-25 at Indonesia’s Jakarta International Expo, the show is poised to continue the growth streak it’s been on for the past few years.

The event is jointly organized by Conference & Exhibition Management Services Singapore, the Singapore Glass Association and the Indonesia Flat & Safety Glass Association and has the support of glass associations from Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, U.S. and Italy.

“Glasstech Asia has seen increasing number of exhibitors and visitors every year,” said Edward Liu, managing director of CEMS, who is on the organizing committee of Glasstech Asia 2011.

He added, “Within the period of 2008 and 2010, an increase of 8.57 percent exhibitors and 45.69 percent visitors were achieved, while the total number of exhibitors and visitors has increased by 11.54 percent and 44.7 percent, respectively.”

Approximately 250 companies from 30 countries will take part in the show, including ones from China, such as Shenzhen Handong, Beijing Hanjiang, NorthGlass, Mingte, Shunde Golive, Guangdong Fushanand LandGlass; Singapore, represented by AG Industries and Fuminn: Malaysia, represented by Vesuvius; and those will be joined by companies from Germany, India, Italy, the Philippines, the United States, as well as the United Kingdom.

“This is the long awaited event for glass industry practitioners and we look forward to have more exhibitors and visitors at Glasstech Asia 2011,” Liu said.

He added, “I am sure the future of the glass industry will be very bright, although there may be obstacles along the way.”

Apart from showcasing the latest products and technology of the glass industry, other highlights of Glasstech Asia 2011 will include a series of seminars, business match-making, networking reception and an awards presentation.

Previous editions of Glasstech Asia successfully were staged in Singapore, India, Vietnam and Thailand.

Being the largest market in Southeast Asia and having the highest number of manufacturing plants, Indonesia is a good fit to host Glasstech Asia 2011, according to CEMS officials.

“We welcome Glasstech Asia to Indonesia,” said Samuel Rumbajan, head of the Indonesia Flat & Safety Glass Association. “I strongly believe that Indonesia, with the current fast-growing economy, will benefit from this glass exhibition through its highly successful glass industry. Through this exhibition, we can bring in the latest glass technologies without having to leave the country, and progress of the local glass industry will be greatly elevated.”

Gan Chee Siong, chairman of the Singapore Glass Association, added, “Since its inception in 1998, Glasstech Asia has paved the way for both local and international industry players to tap on abundant networking opportunities, exchange of ideas, emerging trends and the latest technologies and developments in the industry.”
