EXPO PACK Mxico Breaks Records; New Show Launched in Guadalajara

July 15, 2012

Not only did the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s EXPO PACK México2012, held June 26-29 at Centro Banamex in Mexico City, break new records with its showfloor, but the association also decided to expand its presence in the country with a new show launch in Guadalajara.

The EXPO PACK México  show spanned 18,475 net square meters (198,800 net square feet) of exhibit space, a 13-percent increase compared with previous editions, and welcomed 5,139 attendees and 1,015 exhibiting companies.

“Mexico is an important, rapidly expanding market, and the growth of EXPO PACK México reflects its increasing importance,” said Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO of PMMI.

EXPO PACK México attendees and exhibitors represented more than 32 nations, and there were pavilions from nine countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Peru, Spain, Taiwan and the United States.

Yuska credited extensive partnership efforts with contributing to the strong attendance.

“Through partnerships with more than 15 leading industry organizations, we increased the value of attending for exhibitors and attendees,” he added.

At the inauguration for this year’s EXPO PACK México, PMMI announced another show launch for the country - EXPO PACK Guadalajara, a regional event set to debut Feb. 27–March 1 at Expo Guadalajara.

“We’re starting small and focusing our resources on attracting high-quality attendees and exhibitors to build a strong foundation for future events,” Yuska said.

Exhibitor demand and market research, bolstered by the strength and growth demonstrated by EXPO PACK México, led to the decision to launch the new show.

“Over 100 EXPO PACK México exhibitors told PMMI they would be willing to support and/or exhibit at the new show,” Yuska said.

Yuska predicts the show’s attendee base will pull from Guadalajara and its suburbs, a region known for manufacturing in a wide range of industries, particularly food and beverage.

“The two EXPO PACK shows will have very different attendee bases and very different flavors — just as PACK EXPO International and PACK EXPO Las Vegas do,” Yuska said.
